Please can someone provide the Hanafi opinion regarding the Iqtidaa of the Aimmatul-Haramayn in Witr salaah. As far as what i have heard from some scholars, they say that that there is no problem in doing Iqtidaa of the Imams in Witr, just as there is no problem in other Salaahs like Zuhr, Asr etc.

On the other hand, I have also heard others saying that since the ahnaaf don't regard a one-rakaah-salaah to be valid, it will be incorrect to do iqtidaa of the aimmatul-haramayn in salaaatul-witr...

so what is the correct view?

You've opened up a can of worms!!!
There are many Akaabir on both sides of the issue.

Will give detailed answer later in sha Allah

Unity is a qat'i objective, it cannot be compromised by issues that are clearly mujtahad fihi. If they every clash, the mujtahad fih issue will have to be put aside. I think that provides clear cut guidance for people who are faced with disunity on the basis of madhhabi technicalities.

Whatever the case is Fiqh wise, one important thing we have to keep in mind is that when we give answers, sometimes it has wide ranging and far reaching consequences.

Take this With case for example. We know that the according to Hanafi Madhab, this type of prayer is not valid. Now when we tell the Hanafi congregation that it's ok to pray this type of prayer when they know that it's not valid according to Hanafi fiqh, they will start to pick and choose when other Fiqhi matter arise. They will seek out opinions of other Imams, and when they find out that according to other Madhabs it's ok, then they will drop the Hanafi view on that matter. Eventually the far reaching ramifications of this will be that they will stop doing Taqleed of one Madhab.

Having said that
The question of following another Imam's position is an old one.

Hazrat Shah Wali Allah mentions writes in the Hujjat:

In spite of the differences, they used to pray behind one another, as
Abu Hanifa or his associates and al-Shafi and others, may Allah be
plesed with them, used to pray behind the Imams from Medina who were
Malikis and others even if they neither recited the Basmalah silently
nor aloud; and Harun ar-Rashid led the prayer as Imam after having
blood drawn and Imam Abu Yusuf prayed behind him and didn't repeat
prayer. Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal held that ablution was necessary after
a nosebleed and being leeched so someone asked him: "If the Imam had
experienced a flow of blood and had not done ablution would you pray
behind him?"

He said, "How could I not pray behind Imam Malik and Imam Sa'id ibn al-
Musayyib?"

It is reported that Imam Abu Yusuf and Imam Muhammed used to do the
two id prayers performing the two takbirs according to Ibn Abbas
because Harun Rashid preferred the way of his ancestor. Once as-
Shafi, may Allah be pleased with him, prayed (in the morning) near the
grave of Abu Hanifa, May Allah be pleased with him, and did not
perform the Qunut out of respect for him. He also said: "Sometimes we
incline towards the Iraqi (Hanafi) school (of Law)."

Ps.Mufti Faruk Saheb is also of this opinion not to repeat but please can someone verify?

Hanafi follower should not make salam with the Imam is one way you can reconcile between both the opinions or they should repeat the witr ihtiyatan after praying behind the imam of haramayn.(I hope you understand why i wrote the above sentence)

Ps-Read the post Imam Shafi visiting Imam Abu Hanifas grave May Allah be pleased with them both aameen for the Arabic text in the Hujatullah!!!

"Hanafi follower should not make salam with the Imam is one way you can reconcile between both the opinions"

surely it is incorrect to do that, no? Isn't that going against the rules of Iqtidaa?

This is a shadh view of the madhab
This has been stated by Allamah Rahmat Allah as-Sindhi (d. 978 AH) in his "Ghayat al-Tahqiq" pg.12-13.
This is a very detailed risalah concerning the issue of performing salah in the Haramayn behind an imam who adheres to another madhab.
He discusses the various views in the madhab on the issue and the strength of each. Please refer to it

Allamah Sindhis risalah can be downloaded from the link below in PDf format. The discussion is on page 14 of this copy, which has been incorrectly attributed to Sh. Hayat al-Sindhi
http://www.mediafire.com/?rhzambjqnmh

This is a general piece of advice which is first directed to myself and not to anyone in particular. First of all, every Muslim should always keep in mind that Allah is watching him at all times and recording every single one of his actions. Secondly, we as students should ask ourselves that what our Ustadhs would think if they were to come to know of our statements, fatwas, important decisions, behavior, actions, etc. Would they approve of our actions? Would we be embarrassed by them coming to know of some of our statements? This has a direct link with keeping in contact with our Ustadhs because an Alim will be consulting with his teachers before making important decisions and making wiser decisions.

That's one of the reasons i wrote the two sentences.
You know what i'm going to do if/when i visit the haram(lol)
