Tahajjud Empty Tahajjud

Post  usmanqamar1 Thu Sep 02, 2010 4:03 am

Common question. What are the opinions on praying tahajjud salaat in congregation? I have heard that Mufti Shabbir Sahib and Maulana Abdur Raheem Sahib both pray it during the last 10 days of Ramadhan. Any idea what their opinion is?

Tahajjud Empty Re: Tahajjud

Like it was said before

Take this Tahajjud with congregation case for example. We know that the according to Hanafi Madhab, this type of prayer is makrooh if 4 or more people read it. Now when we tell the Hanafi congregation that it's ok to pray this type of prayer when they know that it's not valid according to Hanafi fiqh, they will start to pick and choose when other Fiqhi matter arise. They will seek out opinions of other Imams, and when they find out that according to other Madhabs it's ok, then they will drop the Hanafi view on that matter. Eventually the far reaching ramifications of this will be that they will stop doing Taqleed of one Madhab.

And to hear aajiz's opinion you'll have to ask this aajiz.(You can guess what's it gonna be)

In the Hanafi school there are Akabir on both sides, the akabir who permit it with their ijtihaad also say outside of ramadhan it's makrooh.

The ikhtilaf which existed in this mas'alah between Shaykh al-Islam Sayyid Husayn Ahmad Madani and 'Allamah Mufti Muhammad Shafi' is well-known in our 'student circles.Mufti Taqi Saheb has given a lovely answer to those who quote Shaikhul Islam Ml. Husain Ahmed Madani on the issue. See Vol.2 of his Fiqhi Maqalat

Mufti Ikram-Ul-Haq saheb when we prayed this issue with him he was very firm on it that it's makrooh.(One of the reasons why Aajiz wont give an opinion openly)

This is a general piece of advice which is first directed to myself and not to anyone in particular. First of all, every Muslim should always keep in mind that Allah is watching him at all times and recording every single one of his actions. Secondly, we as students should ask ourselves that what our Ustadhs would think if they were to come to know of our statements, fatwas, important decisions, behavior, actions, etc. Would they approve of our actions? Would we be embarrassed by them coming to know of some of our statements? This has a direct link with keeping in contact with our Ustadhs because an Alim will be consulting with his teachers before making important decisions and making wiser decisions.

Having said that a lot of the teachers from Darul-Uloom Bury perform tahajjud with jama'ah and also lead the congregation with more than 3/4 people.Mufti Yusuf Ibn shabbir wrote a 50page arabic risalah on this issue on the request of his beloved teacher Shaykh Abdur-Raheem.

In light of the Ikhtilaff and gunjaish in our own madhab, I think it is safe to say that we should not encourage the Jamaa'at to our masses. However, if they want to do it then they should not be stopped, especially if they are non Hanafis and you are an Imam of a diverse community.

If other shyookh answer the question then it'd be better.

Please remember me in your duas.
