Post  Abrar on Tue Nov 09, 2010 2:34 pm

Assalamu Alaikum
This book was authored by the prestigious Dr Mohammed Akram Nadvi, who is a research fellow at the Oxford Islamic Centre. He has authored over 25 books in the arabic, urdu and the english language.
This book is part 1 of a 3 book series of which only this one has been published as yet,it is the english transalation and explanation of the famous Al Hidayah in which islamic theology is discussed, but this new book discusses the topics with references clearly marked out and a brief explanation on each concept.
The topics covered are purity, salah and janazah[buriel].A book strongly recommended for english speaking people and for those seeking references on the hanafi fiqh.
Wasalam

The book is not just a commemorative work of a towering figure in Islamic Law
but it also explores the authority and central role of Law in Islam and how
practitioners and theoreticians theorised and practiced the law and used, as an
example, reason but within a unique and established parameter.
It gives a glimpse into not only the expertise and 'attunement' of such figures
to the Quran and Sunnah but also the modus vivendi and their intense servitude
to Him - as should be the case with any expert of Islamic Law.
Sets a standard we need to rediscover when thinking about where and whom we
'take' matters of the law from, and our own conception of how the law operates.
(quite bluntly put, an MOT for anyone dabbling their fingers in ijtihad and
interpretation of the law without much expertise or grounding in its historical
development or prone to accommodating any rulings which come their way.(ME!))
