ISSUE IN TIRMIDHI

Imam Tirmidhi in the chapter [Ma Yaqoolu etha dakhalal khalaa] mentions the hadeeth of Anas ibn Malik.Then after [Wa fil baab] he mentions the name of Zaid ibn Arqam.Further on after [qaala] the Imam Sahib states that there is an [idhtiraab] in the narration of Zaid ibn Arqam.
The question that I would like to pose to my respected brothers is could you try and solve this problem that Imam Tirmidhi has stated and explain it briefly?

There are 4 asnaad of the Hadeeth in this chapter:-

1 - Hisham - Qatada - Zaid ibn Arqam
2 - Saeed - Qatada - Qasim - Zaid ibn Arqam
3 - Shu'bah - Qatada - Nathar - Zaid ibn Arqam
4 - Ma'mar - Qatada - Nathar - Anas

A - Qatada was born in 60 H
B - Zaid ibn Arqam died in 65 H
Hence the first version is incorrect due to the above information and there is a missing narrator between Qatada and Zaid ibn Arqam.
In the 4th version Ma'mar is the weakest narrator from Qatada so the 4th version is left out as well. The 2nd and 3rd versions are left now.
[ S'altu Muhammed un hatha] refers to the 2nd and the 3rd versions of this hadeeth that Imam Tirmidhi asks Imam Bukhari about.
Some have tried to compare Qasim and Nathar in the terms of the strength of their narrations. But scholars like Imam Ahmed ibn Hanbal from Abdurrehman ibn Mahdi who was known as [Athbatun naas] by Yahya ibn Maeen prefer the version of Saeed,which is the preferred version by everyone.
The best narrators of Qatada are Saeed then Shu'bah then Hisham,Saeed has also been preferred by the scholars of hadeeth as well.
The idhtiraab has been solved by preferring the sanad of Saeed ibn Abi Aroobah over the others.
