What is the ruling on the different maqaamat with which the qurra recite? From amongst the many types is Maqam Hijaz, Nahawand etc. Search it on youtube and you will see examples. Its quite famous amongst the arab and egyptian qurrah.

Here's an example:

Maqamaat Empty Re: Maqamaat

I asked a qari regarding this issue below is what he said

"Alhumdulillah ive learnt the maqams, my teacher told me that maqams are tunes, which have just been given names, everybody prays in a maqam, even yourself when you must read surah faitha in salah, your tune, has been given a name even though you may not know it. Maqams are tunes which have emotion attached to it for a specific reason, depending on what ayah one is reciting, for example if there is an aayah about jahannam, a qari might use maqam sabah, because it is a sad maqam, and if there is an aayah on jannah a qari may use maqam rast because it is a happy maqam, hope this helps.

The Qari saheb was in a hurry hence the answer not being convincing enough.
